The Top 10 Must-Haves for Desert Hiking

Traveling to a desert destination is one of the most exotic experiences one can have. The vast stretched land with a rustic atmosphere will make you feel elated as the fun-filled activities in a desert destination like Rajasthan will surely give you the best holiday memories. However, make sure to pack the desert hiking essentials to avoid any kind of problems. In fact, the weather in a desert area is always extreme; be it summer or winter. You can enjoy activities like camel rides, jeep safaris, photoshoots, and even sandboarding here. Depending on the time of travel, you can make sure to pack the following 10 must-haves for desert hiking:

Clothes:

If you plan a visit in the summer; then, wearing slightly loose cotton clothes is the best option. Do not forget to take a cap or hat as there will be a lot of heat. Along with this, keeping sunscreen lotion would be a great idea. On the other hand, desert hiking planned in the winter season requires you to pack heavy woolens and a wind sheeter jacket. Besides this, keeping long boots would be a good choice as the sand may not get into your shoes.

Comfortable Footwear:

When you tend to travel to a desert area, it is necessary to wear comfortable shoes or flip-flop slippers. These ones will help you in walking in the desert comfortably because the sand is hot in the desert area and comfortable footwear will not let your feet pain. Moreover, desert areas require you to walk long distances and comfortable shoes are your best companions in such a condition.

When you travel for desert hiking, keeping enough water and food is highly imperative. This will help you to keep hydrated enough to enjoy desert activities. In fact, keeping a small number of snacks in your backpack will be a great choice to satisfy hunger pangs. There might be chances that you may not get enough water or food in the middle of a desert.

Scarves:

Keeping cotton scarves is the best idea to stay safe from hot breezes in the desert. As the cotton scarves are lightweight and soft, you will be able to carry them easily. Moreover, the idea of using the scarves is to protect you from suntan as well. In fact, it will protect your nose and face from getting sunburnt or rashes of any kind in the desert.

Imagine the consequences of getting lost in the desert and reaching somewhere else without a proper map or compass.

Comb:

This will help you in managing your hair well and not let the style go out of position. Along with this, keeping a mirror in hand will be the best option. It will enable you to correct your hairstyle in no time. After all, it is a must-have for women travelers.

Wet Face Tissues:

Moreover, by wiping your face with wet tissues, you can feel fresh and keep your face skin clean from the sand that might have accumulated.

Binoculars:

The best part of keeping binoculars on the desert hiking vacation is that it helps you spot distant landmarks or any wildlife present in the area. Along with this, binoculars are meant to give a clear view of other important areas accessible in the desert. Make sure to keep high-quality binoculars that allow you to see clearly at a far-off distance.

Flashlight:

When you are hiking in the desert area, keeping a flashlight with extra batteries is always helpful. The nights are very dark in the desert regions as there are no lights around. So, flashlights will help you in locating the area and you can reach your destination safely without getting stuck anywhere. It is important to keep a high-quality flashlight to avoid any sort of problems at night.

Whistle:

If you are enjoying hiking with your friends, it will help you in finding them easily and you will not get separated or lost in the desert. Moreover, the whistle will help you in locating other people in the group that has accompanied you on the trip.

Apart from keeping the above-mentioned things, it is better to keep sunglasses with you. Of course, the sun in the desert area shines bright and that may affect your eyes as well. By wearing sunglasses, you will be able to protect your eyes and see things around you in a clearer manner. Indeed, desert hiking is one of the best experiences as you tend to enjoy camel safari, jeep safari, and even ATV rides. Not to forget that the sunrise and sunset in the desert area offer the most spectacular views. Therefore, desert hiking essentials should include a high-resolution camera that can take amazing pictures. After all, it is about enjoying your desert hiking vacation and making beautiful memories.
