The summer season in India invariably brings unbearable and unbeatable heat. This heat not only affects our way of living but also melts and drains our precious belongings. One such thing that suffers due to the scorching heat is your car. During this season, car overheating is a common problem. Your car’s temperature will exceed normal levels even if it is stuck in slow-moving traffic.
A road trip in this season can become a major challenge in 40-degree-plus temperatures. However, it is possible to keep the heat in check if you take enough precautions to control the damage. Here are some important tips to protect your car from getting too hot under the hood.
1. Park your Car in the Shade
Summer affects your car’s mainframe area more because Ultraviolet rays can oxidize the vehicle’s exterior layer. They can also disfigure the color of the car. To save its exterior, please take out 5 to 10 minutes of extra time to find a cool and safe place to park. Sometimes people feel too lazy to find shade to park vehicles but it is always a bad idea to keep the car stationed under the direct sun.
2. Wash and Dry your Car Frequently
Washing and drying your car frequently will help you to get rid of detritus, minerals, and even dead bugs that get stuck on your car outwardly. If you won’t do this frequently then they may react with high heat and fade your car paint. This chip in the paint will allow the bugs to enter, which will further damage the exterior.
Wash your car thoroughly with any shampoo or detergent that contrive with your car’s surface. Apart from regular washing, hand-drying with a microfiber cloth is also very important here.
3. Wax Your Car
Waxing is equal to application of sunscreen on your body. It will shield your car’s exterior from heat and the harmful effects of the sun. Therefore, please wax your car at least twice a year to maintain your car’s exterior in top shape.
4. Apply Paint Protection Film
To deal with intense heat within the car, apply protection film on the windows. This thin film will act as a shield against UV-Rays, minor scratches, small dents, specks of dust, and grime. It is the best way to deal with heat and any other minor damage. However, government regulations in India have now made it mandatory for these films to allow at least 70% visibility in most areas.
5. Use Windshield Protector and Window Sunshades
Both windshield protectors and window sunshades have different roles to play. Windshield protectors safeguard the front interior like the dashboard, steering wheel, and other front parts whereas window shades will cut the light that attacks from windows. Both of them are used to reduce inside heat. It would be best if you get them installed before going on a road trip in India. During the trip, they will be your car’s best friends as there are chances you may not be able to find a cool place to park your car.
