Where is Brindavan Garden?

Brindavan Garden located in Mysore, is one of the most attractive green spots in India. It is well known for its sheer beauty and grandeur and is present 19 km above from the heart of Mysore. This amazing garden has been built beneath the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam, which is built on the Kaveri River.

The garden is full of trees, plants, shrubs, flowers, and greenery which makes this garden more attractive. Also, it is famous for the dancing fountains that look stunning after sunset.

Along with Brindavan, even the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam is a wonderful tourist attraction here, being an engineering marvel.

1. History of Brindavan Garden

The famous garden in Mysore was built in the complex of the Krishna Sagar dam in 1927. It is a terrace garden that was started by the Department of Horticulture, and the work was completed in 1932.

Sir Mirza Ismail, the then-Diwan of Mysore state had established the garden to beautify the surroundings of the dam. Brindavan Garden was designed after the Shalimar Garden in Kashmir which was created in the ancient Mughal style. Hence, it also radiates brilliance and beauty, comprising a wide array of foundations, terraces, water channels, lawns, and flowerbeds, etc.

2. Layout of Brindavan Garden

This terrace garden has a wonderful view of Mysore that attracts every visitor, especially in the evening. It is divided into four parts. The main gate areas, are South Brindavan, North Brindavan, and Children’s Garden. The main gate area is inspired by the India Gate at New Delhi, presenting an admirable structure. There is a rose garden on both sides of the main gate. The lawns of this garden look enchanting and are maintained stunningly.

3. Night View and Enlightenment

Brindavan Garden Mysore is best viewed in the night when the entire garden illuminates like stars in the sky. Beautiful light and sound shows are also held here. This brightness and enlightenment make the sight admirable and worth visiting.

The brightness timings at Brindavan Garden change every month. The enlightenment timings of January to September are from Monday to Friday at 6.30 p.m to 7:30 pm and 7:00 pm to 8.55 p.m. From October to December, the timings are from 7:00 pm to 7:55 pm. On weekdays i.e on Saturdays and Sundays, it is from 7:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. The opening time is from 6.00 am to 9 pm.

4. In the Heart of the City

 There are convenient and beautiful areas to stay near the garden. Stay Simple Brindavan resort is located within a few kilometers of the Brindavan Garden and the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam. It is a resort next to rice fields where you can admire the view of sunrise and sunset every day. You will feel like you are in heaven and in the middle of a fairytale.

 Brindavan Garden is based in the middle of Mysore city and it is very well attached to all the scenic places within Mysore. For instance, Chamundi Hills, the home with complex cravings, and Goddess Chamundeshwari Temples are located less than 30 km away from the resort. Mysore is a place with a Rail Museum, Wax Museum, Philomena Church Mysore zoo, etc. You can visit all of them by just traveling a few kilometers.

 Buses are easily available to travel from Bengaluru to Mysore, and back. It takes roughly 2 hours to cover this distance by bus.
