Moments of travel that help us be grounded
Among the many travel lessons that lie teaches us, the most important task is to be grounded. Travel makes us better human beings. It teaches us compassion, empathy, and gratitude. It challenges our beliefs and makes us question our reality. For example, while traveling to the mountains, we realize how powerless we are and in the hands of nature. While traveling to beaches and forests, we are left in awe of the beauty surrounding us.
1. Mighty Mountains
While traveling to the valleys and mountains in Himachal or along the coasts of India, we are surrounded by so much natural beauty. The mighty mountains provide the best opportunity to relax and absorb the nature around you. Traveling to high altitudes comes with challenges as well. After coping with altitude sickness, breathlessness, and fatigue, the peace we get to enjoy makes us realize all hardships lead to a silver lining.
2. Historic sites such as Hampi
The ancient ruins of the Vijaynagar Empire take us back in time when humans lacked advanced technology and yet they built such magnificent temples and palaces. The empire was said to be so rich that rubies and emeralds were sold on the streets, and gold and silver were used as currency, however today it lies as mere ruins in the city of Karnataka. The state of those ruins shows us through history that all empires rise and fall; we as humans are really powerless in the hands of time.
3. South Indian Beaches
Watching the sunrise from the depths of the oceans in places like Kanyakumari or Udupi, or watching it set again into it is a very grounding experience in itself. Sitting on a beach with waves gently crashing against our feet, we can feel grateful for nature and for everything in our lives.
4. Waiting at Airports or Train Stations
The endless waits at airports for our flight to arrive or sitting inside our train cabin waiting for it to start are moments during travel that teach us to be patient. This is something that most of us are losing nowadays and can learn from travel. When our flight finally arrives and we are allotted a boarding gate or when the train slowly picks up speed, we feel immense joy.
The ability to stay grounded helps us stay happy in life. It gives us the strength to realize some things are just out of our control and we are powerless to change them. We should be able to learn to be grounded through travel incidents, with such lessons never fading away and making us better humans.
